SV Flame Arresters: Everything You Need to Know

Posted On : mardi 30th août

Light Duty Flame Arresters from Elmac’s End-of-Line SV Series bring simplicity, versatility and the highest level of protection to gas purging, sample lines and instrumentation lines. Installing an SV Flame Arrester at the end of a pipeline or vessel exit will prevent the transmission of flames and eliminate the risk of explosion.

Superior Defence Against Explosions

The ignition of flammable vapour, resulting in a fire or explosion, is one of the greatest threats to vessel safety. High-risk process environments often rely on SV Flame Arresters as their last line of defence, thanks to their unrivalled performance and explosion protection.

SV Flame Arresters contain elements with small apertures that allow gases or vapours to pass through while preventing the progression of a flame. In the event of an atmospheric deflagration, heat dissipation cools the combustion products at the element’s surface, preventing its transmission through the protected vent line.

SV Flame Arresters are certified by ATEX for use with gases in Explosion Groups IIA1, IIA, IIB1, IIB2 and IIB3.

Effortless and Economical Approach

Cost-effective and easy to install, SV Flame Arresters are an excellent choice for vessels in need of a lightweight, straightforward safety measure that still offers the highest level of explosion protection. These devices utilise some of the most economical materials on the market, including zinc, aluminium alloys, stainless steel and spring steel.

An optional weatherhood is available and recommended for environments prone to precipitation, snow, or airborne contaminants.

In-House Inspection and Verification

Each Flame Arrester that passes through Elmac’s facilities undergoes a rigorous inspection and verification of its safety and performance features. These inspections are certified per ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and EN ISO 16852, the European Standard for Flame Arresters, which provides a substantial safety margin under typical operating conditions.
