Hydrogen (H2) is the most abundant element in the Universe and is present on Earth in great quantities combined with other elements. Hydrogen molecules have useful energy applications but must be separated from these other elements to obtain molecular Hydrogen gas.
There are four categories of process used to generate or separate Hydrogen:
Regardless of the method used to generate Hydrogen, sufficient venting must be installed to prevent flashback due to ignition by lightening, electric spark or external fire.
Elmac Technologies® has been manufacturing Hydrogen Flame Arresters for over two decades. Our world-renowned Flame Arresters use an element with small apertures that allow gasses or vapours to pass. If the apertures are smaller than the maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) for the gas or vapour, then a flame cannot pass through the arrester and is contained or extinguished.
Our Hydrogen Flame Arresters are type-tested to EN ISO 16852 and approved according to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.
Elmac has been manufacturing protection equipment since 1936 and brings enhanced levels of flame and explosion protection to a diverse range of applications.
Elmac offers considerable technical leadership and, utilising a range of testing facilities and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies, employs a Research & Development team who are renowned for providing solutions engineered for use in the most challenging of industrial applications.
Our sister company, KnitMesh Technologies®, manufactures bespoke Electrolysis Mesh for use in Polymer Electrolyte, Proton-Exchange Membranes (PEM), Ion Exchange Membranes (IEM) and alkaline zero-gap electrolyser cell applications.
Their Electrolysis Mesh, which is tailored to individual customer specifications, reduces cell voltage and improves process efficiency. The mesh is highly corrosion resistant and able to withstand demanding temperatures, pressures and the caustic nature of any electrolyte solutions.
