With a proud history dating back to 1957, KnitMesh has set the standard in mesh design and manufacture for 60 years.
It’s all down to our processes. Manufacturing an extensive range of industrial applications, and working for leading clients across all sectors, we’ve not only created an effective product – we’ve also mastered the art of effective production.
The following pages explain the types of mesh we make – and how we do it. Read on to find out more.

Once a wire mesh has been knitted, we begin transforming it into the form required. This process – involving crafting and manipulation of the mesh – is crucial to producing the final product, as ordered by our customers.
There are a variety of post-knitting processes which can be used depending upon the final form, structure, property and design requirements.
These include:
Spiralling & Milling – When a continuous length of compressed mesh is required, spiralled mesh is placed inside a separate mesh sleeve, then drawn through a rolling mill
Traditionally, knitting is a way of making cloth from threads. For industrial and commercial applications, a much broader range of materials can be used. In fact, almost any material that can be drawn into a wire or a filament can be used to produce a knitted mesh.
Mesh is usually specified by the number of stitches per cm, and is grouped into five broad categories: fine, medium-fine, standard, coarse and super-coarse.
It is also possible to knit more than one strand or filament material into a mesh product. By modifying cylinder feeders and spool positions, we are able to produce all manner of multi-filament, co-knit, and multi-strand meshes.
As well as knitted wire mesh products, KnitMesh also produces non-mesh products. These take the form of two varieties: metallic and non-metallic.
Our metallic non-mesh products are mostly made up of aluminium alloys, carbon and stainless steel components which are used alongside knitted wire mesh products. Examples include brackets, housings, channel frames and support grids.
The non-metallic non-mesh products incorporate polymeric and textile materials into knitted mesh structures. Types of product in this range include fibre-glass seals, elastomer pipes and tubing, and fluid-seal gaskets.
