The Project

The St Fergus Gas Terminal is one of the UK’s largest gas terminals located near St Fergus, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. In 2015, the plant’s ownership was transferred from Total to North Sea Midstream Partners (NSMP) including the FUKA and SIRGE pipelines. While still operated by Total, it was recognised that the flame arresters on the overflow protection tanks were in need of critical maintenance.

The Requirement

Elmac Technologies were appointed to carry out a site survey to determine the exact requirements. The survey revealed that over 100 flame arresters were in urgent need of replacement mainly due to corrosion issues because of the plant location.

The Solution

Working in conjunction with the Total engineers, Elmac Technologies confirmed the correct specification and location for each arrester and supplied new ATEX approved EVB end-of-line and detonation flame arresters.
