Fuel storage: increasing safety and reducing costs

In Antwerp, one of Belgium’s largest fuel storage facilities consisting of 173 steel tanks with a capacity of 500,000m3, required assistance with flame arresters in the vapour recovery lines for the building of two new jetties.

Project Requirements

The flame arresters for this project needed to meet the criteria of low pressure drop due to the design of the tanks.

The Elmac Solution

7 x In-line Unstable Detonation UCA Flame Arresters

With HEDS™ technology, Elmac’s UCA series offered lower pressure drops than any other stable detonation arresters the client was considering. The low pressure performance enabled the client to reduce the line size for one of the tags from 8” to 6”, helping to significantly reduce overall project costs.
